The new Medical Academic Building at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley is a teaching facility that promotes faculty and student interaction at the earliest stages of medical school. The building includes an auditorium, digital library, clinical skills center, pre-clinical laboratories and an anatomy teaching facility. The building makes extensive use of online and distance learning as part of a region-wide medical school interacting with and complementing facilities at Harlingen and Brownsville as well as supporting continuing professional education in the region.
Zero/Six utilized our Quality Control Program, performing site visits twice a week during construction of the project. Construction observations focused on elevator pit waterproofing/underslab vapor retarder, air barrier systems and developing key intersections with the fenestration systems, onsite window installations to measure conformity with manufacturer’s recommendations, roof installation, installation of screen wall ACM panels, installation of metal flashings/copings and stone copings, installation of brick masonry and all associated building sealants.
