Uncovering ASTM E1105 & AAMA 501.2 at Lamar University

Another Testing Tuesday!

This week we performed ASTM E1105 and AAMA 501.2 on a building at Lamar University.

These are the tests that we perform the most. For those that aren’t familiar with these, see a breakdown below.

ASTM E1105 is known as Chamber Testing. We spray water on the exterior window/door/curtain wall and simulate a wind-driven rain. While doing this, we apply a pressure difference between the inside and outside elements (Chamber) to make sure there are no leaks happening.

AAMA 501.2 is known as Nozzle Testing. We walk around with a Spray Wand and hose, spraying water on certain locations that might have a leak. We use this test to help pinpoint those areas and quickly examine what is making the leak occur, and how to address that issue.
